Malook Das Ji was a very renowned saint of moghal period. He had seen Akbar, Jahangeer, Shahjahan and also Allauddin as emperor. Even Allauddin dared not go against him.
Malook Das ji was an embodiment of sacrifice and service, yet he had strong conviction that Bhagwaan Ram is the doer of everything. From this highest level of spirituality, he had composed the verse which is very famous -
अजगर करे न चाकरी पंछी करे न काम,
दास मलूका कह गए सबके दाता राम.
(Ajgar kare na chaakri panchhi kare na kaam
Das Malooka kaha gaye sabke data Raam.)
Not understanding what he meant, it became most popular quote of the people who don't want to work.
Malook Das Ji had composed a large number of verses and dohaas. Not all of them are available now. The Malook Peeth of Vrindavan has tried to collect his verses.
