Gopi Geet
appears in the 10th skandha of Srimad Bhagawat wherein the beautiful
stories of the life of Lord Sri Krishna are related.
The devotion
of the gopies was unparallel and Bhagawan Krishna promised them that He will
have RAS-The divine dance with them.
During the RAS, the gopies were proud, thinking
themselves to be the most fortunate and the best among all the women in the
universe.
Bhagawan
never likes the sense of pride specially in His devotees. He disappeared then
and there. The gopies started searching for Him. Not finding the beloved Lord,
they started crying and calling Him to appear again.
This call- a
song full of love and devotion in Krishna
viraha is the Gopi Geet. There are 19 shlokas in Gopi geet. Bhagawan
reappeared after it was sung.
It is said
that if a devotee chants the Gopi Geet daily with love and devotion, sooner or
later, Bhagawan Krishna is bound to give darshan.
It is
considered to be the most beautiful part of Bhagawat. In all Bhagawat saptah katha, we can hear the
