Paramanand Das Ji
Sri
Srinathji's temple in Govardhan was established by Sri Vallabhacharya ji.
Presently, Lord Srinath ji is in Nathdwara, Rajasthan. There was a group of
eight poets to sing for Lord, known as Ashta Chhap. These ashta chhap kavi are
said to be the ashta sakha of Sri Krishna who had incarneted on earth in Mughal
era, the most difficult period for Hinduism, to show us the path of devotion. All
of them were extraorinery poets and singers and sang for lord in the temple at
different occasions of Ashta Yaam seva from morning to night. We all know about
Surdas ji. Paramanand das ji was one of the eight Ashta Chhap Bhakta kavi.
Others were Sri Kumbhan das ji, Krishna das ji, Govind Das ji, Chaturbhuj das
ji, Cheet Swami and Nand das ji.
The
collection of songs of Paramanand Das is also very extensive. The Dhanuka
family in Vrindavan worked hard in collecting the verses and published them in 4
volumes of Ashta Chhap Sagar. The content here is taken from these volumes.
